If you’re on the lookout for an online traffic school to take – whether it be to get that traffic ticket reduced, to remove points from your license, or just to get a better insurance premium – you’ve likely waded through countless websites offering a traffic school course.
I’m sure you’re tired of searching, as it can be extremely overwhelming with the number of them out there, so let me stop you right where you are.
We’ve found the best online traffic school out there, with a twist – it’s hilarious.
What Is Improv Traffic School?
Improv Traffic School is a traffic school course that makes its reputation in hilarity.
While it unfortunately isn’t yet available in every state, it’s certainly a viable and valuable substitute for a classroom based traffic school course, and it’ll keep you interested throughout by making you laugh.
What more can you ask for from a traffic school course?
Finally, here’s one that understands how boring this subject can be, especially when you’ve been driving for years and don’t want to take the course, to begin with.
Since this course is owned by the Improv Comedy Club chain, they make excellent use of stand-up comedy, hilarious images, and cartoons within the course to keep you entertained while you’re being educated.
Hence their cleverly coined term for their brand of education: Edutainment.
What Is It Like?
Do you mean, aside from being completely funny and worth your time to get your traffic ticket reduced?
First of all, like most other traffic school courses, this course allows you to go through it at your leisure.
Now, you do have to take into consideration the fact that some courts require the use of timers, due to their time frame requirements on how long you can take to complete the course, but the videos and games they provide help to pass the time as these count down if you like to speed through information.
If you need to take a break, you can do so throughout the course, and it saves your progress to allow you to easily pick up where you left off, no matter where you are.
That’s right; as long as you have your log-in information, you can use any computer to go through the course. How neat is that?
How Long Does Improv Traffic School Take
The duration of the course is, unfortunately but of course, dependent on where you got your ticket, as some states require the use of timers.
If you live in a state that does not, such as California, then this course could take you as little as half an hour to complete. If your state does require the use of timers, it may take six hours, eight hours, or maybe even a little more.
This information should be available by your court, if not the course itself, and even if you do have to wait on a timer, there are several ways in the course itself to pass the time so you aren’t just stuck waiting.
The good news is, if you have to go back and re-cover information from the previous section to pass the quiz, you only have to wait for the timer once. Thank you, Improv.
The course itself is broken down into ten sections, with a quiz to take at the end of each one.
You must pass these quizzes in order to advance to the next section, but don’t worry; as long as you’ve been paying attention to the course material, the quizzes are easy to ace, and you can always go back to the material to go back over any information you may not be completely clear on if you fail the quiz the first time.
The questions you get for your second time around will be different to ensure you’re really paying attention, but they aren’t difficult at all.
Another great thing regarding the courses is that they make use of the material in the best possible way.
While some courses spread each section out over several pages (which can be especially annoying if you’re having to wait on a timer, as you have to wait on the timer for each page), Improv Traffic School puts the entire section material on a single, scrollable page, which is usually completely stuffed full of videos and cartoons between the material itself to keep you entertained while you wait for the time to run out.
This ensures that you don’t have to wait on a timer to run out any more than a single time for each section, and it makes it incredibly easy to scroll back up and re-read anything you’re not clear on.
After you’ve completed each section and successfully passed their quizzes, you’re ready to take Improv Traffic School’s final exam.
Now, this is actually one of the great things about this course – THIS is where they’ll get your payment from you. That’s right; you don’t pay for the course until you’ve made it to the final exam.
The length of the exam itself is of course dependent on which state issued your citation, but overall it’s an easy exam, and even has some areas where you would essentially have to try to fail them.
If you do fail the exam, though, don’t worry; you are granted a couple extra tries to take it again. Once you’ve passed, you’re done with traffic school!
Now, this final part is probably the most important after going through traffic school itself – your credit for completing the course.
While some online traffic schools will give you instructions on how to mail your accreditation to the court, Improv actually do it for you.
Once you’ve passed their final exam, they process the paperwork for you, and notify the court automatically of your completion, and they’ll process your certificate the same day.
They give you a copy of your certificate of completion, and all you have to do is verify with the court that your case was dismissed. Easy peasy!
Meanwhile, some of you may not find Improv Comedy Club’s sense of humor to your taste. If that’s the case, you might be looking for alternatives.
Well, here are a few of the best alternatives to Improv.
If you’d rather take a very straightforward online traffic course, go with iDriveSafely. This online traffic school is one of the largest and perhaps the most reputable one you’ll ever find. Their course works well on mobile devices, so you’re good on the go. And although the lessons are simple, they use videos and animations to make it less boring. Their course is also approved in many states, so there’s a higher chance it’s available where you reside.
Another option for you is GoToTrafficSchool. They have this thing wherein if you find a course offered cheaper than theirs, they’ll give you $1 off your course price. Even without it, this course is really affordable if you consider the quality of education you’ll get. They recently updated their course materials, too.
Whichever you choose though, the important thing here is that you complete the course for whatever purpose you want to use it for.
Improv Traffic School works for me because I tend to retain information more if I’m entertained while learning. So, think which one works well for YOU and YOU only. Good luck!
