The Top 3 Indiana Defensive Driving Courses Online

Indiana Online Defensive Driving Courses

If you need to take an Indiana state-approved defensive driving course, listen up. Not all defensive driving courses in Indiana are created equal. I am assuming you are not taking a defensive driving course for fun, but rather, you need to get some stuff off your driving record or lower your insurance rates.

Want The Fast Answer? THIS Is The Best Online Defensive Driving Course In Indiana

As a driving instructor, I am extremely familiar with all of the different Indiana defensive driving courses that exist. For starters, do not take your Indiana defensive driving course in a classroom! Unless you like sitting in a classroom being lectured at all day, there is no reason you shouldn’t do this online. Taking your defensive driving course online is faster, cheaper, easier, and has many additional benefits to spending your time in a boring classroom.

The only remaining issue is which online traffic school you should go with. There are several online traffic schools available in Indiana, but the truth is, most of them suck. Well ok, they all suck. Traffic school just… sucks. With that in mind, I have listed the top 3 Indiana defensive driving courses online along with why I believe they are the best. There are a total of 11 online defensive driving courses approved in Indiana, so below my top 3 picks, I will give you a list of every online defensive driving course approved in Indiana.

iDriveSafely

iDriveSafely

iDriveSafely is currently the best online defensive driving course in Indiana. They have had more than 5,000,000 people go through their courses and still have an excellent online reputation, including an A+ Better Business Bureau rating. This is a real company with a real corporate office and is not run by some dude in his garage. They provide 24/7/365 customer service, it’s the FASTEST course allowed by Indiana state law, it’s cheap, you get same-day automatic BMV notification, and it’s high quality.

Another advantage of iDriveSafely is how well it works on mobile devices. A lot of Indiana defensive driving courses still don’t work well on mobile devices. Sure, they work, but it’s just clunky and doesn’t work well. iDriveSafely has made their course very mobile friendly. So if you plan to just sit on the couch and complete your defensive driving course from your phone, this would be a great option.

They also offer a guarantee, so if you sign up and you don’t like it, you can just get yourself a refund. I’ve tested this out, and they do honor it. If I had to sign up for an Indiana defensive driving course, this is the one I’d go with. They’ve been around for a quarter-century and with millions of people having gone through it before you, this is a pretty safe bet.

Improv Traffic School

Improv Traffic School

This is personally one of my favorite defensive driving courses simply due to the comedy factor. Improv Traffic School is owned and operated by the nationwide chain of Improv Comedy Clubs. They got a bunch of comedians together and told them to create an online defensive driving course that wasn’t boring as Hell. In my opinion, they succeeded! This is actually a rather entertaining way to spend your time (admittedly not my first choice of entertainment, though). The reason I listed this course second is because I’m not sure everyone has the same sense of humor I have. Check out the below video. If you think that is funny, you’ll likely have a pretty decent time going through the course:

Of course, as with any higher quality online defensive driving course, they have customer support every day of the year, you can log into and out of the course whenever you want, switch between devices, and they made the quizzes very easy to pass. Honestly, you don’t even need to pay attention to pass the quizzes they are that easy. Improv Traffic School tends to be on the cheaper side and they also designed the course to be the fastest allowed by Indiana law.

By all measures, Improv Traffic School is about as good as it gets. The only downside is if you don’t like their sense of humor, but otherwise, it’s a great course.

Go To Traffic School

GoToTrafficSchool
I like to include GoToTrafficSchool when I recommend defensive driving courses because this is a perfectly legit course, but they GUARANTEE to be the lowest price. If you find an Indiana state-approved online defensive driving course for a lower price, let them know and they will match or beat that price.

Due to the lower pricing, they don’t offer as good of customer support and you aren’t going to see any hired comedians. However, just last year GoToTrafficSchool completely redid their entire course. It is now very mobile-friendly and all of the content has been updated. They even included some pretty cool 3D videos and interactive features they never had before.

So, if you’re looking to spend the lowest amount of money possible but also want to make sure the course is legit, GoToTrafficSchool is a defensive driving school you should definitely check out.

How Does An Indiana Defensive Driving Course Work?

In the state of Indiana, all online defensive driving courses are mandated to do pretty much the same thing. There will be 3 different sections with a quiz after each section. You must obtain a score of 70% or higher in order to pass those quizzes, but you get an unlimited attempt to pass those. After that, there will be a “final exam”. This is where you need to be a little more careful. You only get 3 tries to pass the final exam with a 70% or higher. If you don’t pass it after your third try, you have to go through it all again. Fortunately, the final exam is super easy and you should be able to pass it, if only for the fact that you are already a licensed driver. This is easy stuff, guys.

The other issue with the state of Indiana is all courses must be timed. That means, if you are finished reading a page, you can’t just move forward. You have to wait for an annoying little timer to count down to zero before you can progress onto the next page. The state of Indiana requires all online defensive driving courses to be 4 hours in length. The good news is, you can complete the course in one sitting or spread it out over time. Any of the above online defensive driving courses I recommended will keep track of your place.

You’ll also need to decide if you want to take your course via a text-based platform or by watching videos. Not all off the approved courses offer the streaming video option, but I find that to be much less cumbersome than reading page after page of plain text.

For the most part, this is going to be easy. It’s just the time commitment that sucks. I hope the recommended online Indiana defensive driving courses helps to make your journey a bit less painful than it otherwise would have been.

Good luck and drive safely!
