Best Nebraska Online Traffic Schools: Reviews & Guide

Traffic school has other names such as defensive driving or a ticket dismissal course, so don’t let the jargon send your brain for a loop. In Nebraska, traffic school goes by the name driver’s education and training course or driver improvement. They are all the same thing for the most part.

Regardless of what it is called, the class can be a real pain in the neck. In the past, a person had to trek down to a classroom on a Saturday morning and get stuck there with a bunch of strangers for hours on end. If this schedule didn’t work for the individual, they would have to find a school that offered night classes. Of course, then, the student had to spend their evenings with the unknown persons after a long, hard day of work.

In this guide, you will learn who should take a Nebraska traffic school, and we’ll also help you find the best Nebraska traffic school for your needs, including the possiblity of taking your Nebraska traffic school online.

Drivers Who Are REQUIRED To Take A Nebraska Driver’s Education & Training Course

Any person who loses his/her license under the Nebraska Point System or any person who is under 21 years of age and has accumulated six or more points within a 12 month period is required to attend and successfully complete a driver’s education and training course consisting of at least eight hours of instruction approved by the Director of the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Such instruction must be successfully completed before the license and privilege to operate a motor vehicle may be reinstated.

For the driver who is under 21 years of age, such instruction must be successfully completed within three months after notification from the Department of Motor Vehicles. Each person who attends such instruction shall pay for the cost of such course.

The Department of Motor Vehicles will send a list of all certified organizations where this required instruction might be obtained along with any notices sent to the individual required to complete the course. An individual will be allowed to make the choice of the agency and location most convenient.

Driver Education and Training Courses Certified by the Nebraska DMV

Chances are, you will NOT be allowed to take your Nebraska traffic school online. The following list is a list of every Nebraska state approved driver education and training course. You can also view the list here.

The agencies listed below have been certified by the Department of Motor Vehicles to offer Driver Education and Training Courses required for:

  • Reinstatement of Point Revocation
  • Under Age 21 Six (6) Point Accumulation
  • Employment Driving Permit (completion required within 60 days of permit authorization)
  • Two (2) point credit to your driving record (within limited guidelines). This program can only be utilized once every five (5) years and the course must be completed prior to the date of violation that would assess the 12th point on the driving record.

Classroom instruction (8 hours) is required.
