I often get asked, is online drivers ed is legit? Others ask me if online traffic school is legit. The answer to both is yes. Online drivers ed and traffic school have been legit for over a decade now. The vast majority of states offer both online drivers ed as well as traffic school / defensive driving programs.

If You’re Taking iDriveSafely For Online Traffic School Or Defensive Driving
Wondering if iDriveSafely is legit for traffic school or online defensive driving courses? This is actually their specialty! Some states call it traffic school while others call it defensive driving, however, the end result is the same. If you want to get a traffic ticket dismissed or reduce points on your driving record, iDriveSafely is one of the best companies you can go with.
iDriveSafely has operated online traffic school and defensive driving courses for literally decades. Even before you could dismiss a traffic ticket online, they offered home-based online drivers ed programs through VHS tapes (remember those?) and booklets, so they’ve been at this a long time.
What I like about iDriveSafely is that they know full well most people aren’t taking the course by choice. It’s more of a necessity to protect your driving record.
And let’s face it, going through a traffic school program is not fun. There’s no way around that. Traffic school and defensive driving is BORING! They are also fully aware of that, which is why they create their courses to meet state minimum requirements. Your ticket dismissal course won’t take a second longer than it has to, and they really do make the tests and quizzes very easy. In most states, it’s not even possible to fail the course.
Is iDriveSafely Really The Best Option?
There is absolutely nothing wrong with iDriveSafely. It’s perfectly legit and literally MILLIONS of students have passed their courses, whether it’s for drivers ed, traffic school, defensive driving, and even insurance discount courses – they’ve been at this for a long time and have had a lot of people use their courses.
With that said, there are many other legitimate options to go with. Below is a list of some other online traffic schools and drivers ed courses you can try. For more detailed reviews, feel free to check out the following pages:

How Long Does iDriveSafely Take?
For Traffic School & Defensive Driving – The good news is iDriveSafely does the best they can to meet state minimum requirements without you having to spend a minute longer than necessary. In some states, like California, you can get it done very fast as the state of California does not require a “course timer” to be used.
So basically, you can finish your iDriveSafely traffic school in an hour or two. For others states, like Texas, a course timer is required for your defensive driving course. This slows things down dramatically as you must spend a full 6 hours going through the course. Each page is timed accordingly. Super annoying? Yes, but it’s a state requirement.
For Drivers Ed – DriversEd.com is similar in that they meet minimum state requirements for their online drivers ed programs. This will vary from state to state as online drivers ed requirements vary widely. It can take anywhere from about 6 hours to more than 30 hours to complete your online driver’s ed course. You can click here and choose your state for more details.
What States Is iDriveSafely Certified In?

One Last Thing You Should Know About iDriveSafely
Hopefully, in this article, you’ve been able to see that iDriveSafely is indeed legit. In fact, it’s one of the longest running online driving schools with millions of prior students.
Even with all those students, they’ve maintained an A+ BBB rating and have a pretty good reputation online.
Most online traffic schools do receive poor reviews online simply because NOBODY likes taking traffic school but compared to most other online traffic schools they fair pretty well.
With that said, even though iDriveSafely is legit, this is not going to be a fun course for you to go through.
It’s boring, and I’m sure you’d rather do something else with your time. However, if you need to get your ticket dismissed or want to sign up for driver’s education online, iDriveSafely is a great choice.
