Reviews Of Texas Defensive Driving Online Courses

Texas Defensive Driving Online

You can take your required Texas defensive driving course either online or offline in a classroom setting. I’m not sure why anyone would ever want to do this in a classroom, so I’m just going to cover the online traffic schools. The online defensive driving courses are faster, easier, you can’t fail them and clothing is optional. Only problem is, as of April 2014, there are 38 certified online defensive driving courses in Texas. How in the world are you supposed to price check and research 38 schools? Well lucky for you, that’s what this website is all about. Not only do I supply you with a complete list of all the online traffic schools approved for Texas, but I have some recommendations, reviews, and even some discounts you can use.

Texas Online Defensive Driving Course Reviews

I’ve got the full list of approved schools posted below, but first, I thought I’d give my personal recommendations. As a CDL-A driving instructor, I’m sort of a nerd when it comes to this stuff. I actually went through these courses myself. If you want to know my personal opinion, I would definitely sign up for this online course. However, I know you probably want to check out the different options available, so the below courses are the ones I believe are best. If for some reason you don’t like any of the courses I recommend, you can get the full list of all approved Texas defensive driving courses towards the bottom of this page.

So here ya go – just stick with one of these top 5 defensive driving courses and you’ll have that ticket dismissed shortly.

TOP PICK: Aceable’s Online Defensive Driving Course

Aceable Drivers Ed

Aceable is the highest rated defensive driving course in Texas. Not only do I believe it is the best course, but it is also the highest rated defensive driving course on Yelp, the Apple Store, Trust Pilot, and Facebook reviews, which all are at or very near 5 stars. This is the fastest course allowed by Texas state law. Basically it’s fast, it’s easy, and it will work on any device. At the very least, you should check this course out and compare it to any (or all) of the courses below. The quality difference with their website alone is very obvious and noticeable.

Review #1: iDriveSafely

5 Star Rating

iDriveSafelyiDriveSafely is one of the best online defensive driving courses you can sign up for in Texas and it’s the most widely used course as well. With over 4 million people having taken the course already, they’ve definitely proven themselves. This school was one of the very first TEA Texas Education Agency) approved courses. It’s high quality, the price is good, you can start and stop the course whenever you want, they’ve been around forever, they include graphics, animations, and video to spice things up a bit, and even include a video option if you’d rather watch your traffic school course instead of reading it. I’ve had this school listed on my site for over 2 years now and am still happy to recommend them. Oh, and they’ve got an A+ Better Business Bureau rating, too. If you’re not into the comedy aspect that Improv Traffic School offers, this is the school I’d recommend to you.

Review #2: Improv Traffic School

5 Star Rating

Improv Traffic SchoolWell, I’m a sucker for humor, so Improv Traffic School easily gets the top spot as my favorite online Texas defensive driving course. Traffic school, even when it’s taken online, is incredibly boring. It feels like it takes forever, there’s a ton of reading, and we’re mostly told things we already know for 6+ hours. What a drag. This particular school was created by a bunch of Hollywood comedians and their goal was to make it as painless as possible by adding in humor throughout the course. They also include a couple free tickets to any of their nationwide Improv Comedy Clubs once you complete the course. Now, not everyone likes the same kind of humor I do, so take a look at the below commercial that Improv Traffic School made. If you don’t find this at least mildly amusing, you should probably go with another one of my recommendations.

Review #3: Get Defensive

4 Star Rating

Get DefensiveI decided to include this school for one main reason – they guarantee that they are the cheapest Texas defensive driving online course approved in the state. Granted, I don’t think the course quality is quite as good as my other recommendations, but if all you really care about is paying the cheapest possible price while still going through a reputable company, this is the school for you. Like the other schools, they’ve been in business for more than a decade. Both the company and the course itself are totally legit and is the best option if you’re looking for a cheap way to go about fulfilling your driving school requirements. Keep in mind, Texas regulates the pricing pretty heavily so you won’t find much of a price difference, but you might be able to save a few bucks.

Review #4: Traffic School 101

4 Star Rating

Traffic School 101Traffic School 101 has been an approved Texas defensive driving course for quite some time now. I wouldn’t peg this one as being one of the best, but I’ve had very positive feedback about their customer service department. People have actually taken the time to write me emails about how great they were at resolving an issue or two. It’s a nightmare trying to find a company with good customer service these days, so I decided to include them in my recommendation list. In addition, this course is great for those who want a “no frills” type of course. This defensive driving course doesn’t have 3D animations or videos. Think of this school as an e-book. Lots of reading, but straight to the point. This is probably the best option for those with a slow internet connection.

Review #5: DriversEd.com

4 Star Rating

DriversEd.comDriversEd.com is a school I normally recommend for online drivers ed courses, but they have also been approved as a certified Texas driver safety course for ticket dismissal and point reduction. The only reason I didn’t list them higher is because traffic school isn’t their main business. Their main business is drivers ed while online traffic school is just a side gig for them. I also haven’t completed a detailed review on them yet. However, the course is very high quality, includes some very nice 3D graphics and animations to spice things up, and they’ve been around for a very long time. These guys know what they’re doing.

I used your site to determine which online driver’s safety course I should take. I registered for and began the I Drive Safely course. About 1/3 of the way through the course, the web page disappeared. I couldn’t reload it; I couldn’t even find the home page again.

I called the 800 number that was in the email I received upon registration. I was given some run-around about scheduled maintenance, which they claim was disclosed to me on their login page. Two problems — there was no login page for me, as I had just registered and followed links in my email, and second, there was no disclosure that I could find anywhere. The woman on the phone couldn’t give me specific information about when the site would return or why the “scheduled” maintenance wasn’t disclosed to me upon registration.

After waiting nearly two hours, I’ve decided that the only recourse I will get is to spread the news that this company is poorly run and unreliable, as they would not provide me with expedited shipping on anything to make up for the fact that I will now have to continue the program on a second day.
