How To Take Florida Online Driver's Ed For FREE

If you’re reading this, you’re either an excited teen ready to get a driver’s license, or you’re a terrified parent who’s “baby” is about to learn how to drive. As a former driving instructor, I’ve got both of you covered. This guide is specifically about how to take Florida online drivers ed for free. That’s right – FREE!

What’s The Catch? – I know, know, there’s no such thing as a free lunch, right? The truth is, as a Florida resident, either you or your parents have already paid for your online driver’s ed course through taxes.

The free online driver’s ed course in Florida isn’t actually free. Instead, it is a government-approved course that pays the tuition on your behalf.

How Does Free Florida Online Drivers Ed Work?

While the free Florida online drivers ed course is paid for through tax dollars, the government doesn’t actually operate the course themselves.

Instead, every few years, they make a contract with a privately run online driving school to operate the free driver’s ed course for them. This is the school that currently offers the free online drivers ed course in Florida.

Signing up is extremely simple. Simply go to their website to put in your email and create a log-in password.

Once that’s done, you’ll fill in your name, address, and answer a couple of security questions.

Then you’re in! NO PAYMENT INFORMATION IS NEEDED! How cool is that?

How Many Free Online Driver’s Ed Courses Exist In Florida?

DriversEd.com

There is only one free online driver’s ed course in Florida. The course is operated by DriversEd.com.

If you aren’t signing up for this specific online driver’s ed course in Florida, you are either signing up for a paid course or it is a scam altogether.

While there are other online driver’s ed courses available in Florida, DriversEd.com consistently ranks at the top of my lists for the best online driver’s ed courses to sign up for. DriversEd.com has been around since online driver’s ed was approved in Florida and they operate in several other states as well.

The course quality is just fine, especially for it being the only free online driver’s ed course in Florida.

Are Any Other Online Driver’s Ed Courses Available In Florida?

Yes, there are some other online driver’s ed courses available in Florida. While I highly recommend everyone simply sign up for the free online driver’s ed course, there are some other options available if you don’t mind paying for it.

Why Taking A Paid Online Drivers Ed Course Could Be A Better Idea

Taking a free online drivers ed course in Florida is a great option, but some people choose to take a paid course. Why would you want to pay for your online drivers ed course?

Quite simply, there is less coursework and you can get it done WAY faster. The paid courses are much quicker and easier to get through, so if you’re in a hurry to get your license, taking one of the below courses could be a better option for you.

Taking a free online driver’s ed course in Florida is a great option, but some people choose to take a paid course instead.

Why would you want to pay for your online driver’s ed course? Well, there is less coursework and you can get it done WAY faster.

The paid courses are much quicker and easier to get through, so if you’re in a hurry to get your license, taking one of the below courses could be a better option for you.

1. Aceable

Aceable Drivers Ed

If for some reason you don’t want to use the free online driver’s ed course in Florida, I very highly recommend going with Aceable.

This online driver’s ed course is actually a newcomer and was just approved in 2017 as a state-certified online driver’s ed course.

As a start-up company with millions of dollars in startup capital, they produced the newest, most modern, and in my opinion the highest quality online drivers education course ever created.

They also provide the best experience when using the program on mobile devices.

Aceable offers many other perks as well, such as United States-based customer support, high-quality videos and animations, and even 3D/virtual reality tutorials if you have the equipment for it.

Nobody comes close to the quality of Aceable.

2. TeenDrivingCourse.com

Teen Driving Course

While not as high quality as Aceable, TeenDrivingCourse.com is another excellent choice if you don’t want to go with the Free online driver’s ed course in Florida.

TeenDrivingCourse.com has been approved for online driver’s ed in Florida since the early 2000s and they have been one of the most popular online driver’s ed courses since that time.

This is a good course for those who don’t really care about having the most advanced course in the World.

It’s a bit lower priced than some of their counterparts (although it’s not free!), and it offers a more basic approach to online driver’s education.

This course has a lot more text than many other courses, so if you prefer text over video, this could be a great option for you.

They have extended customer service hours, have good ratings online, and, while the course may be a little outdated, it certainly gets the job done.

3. iDriveSafely

idrivesafely online traffic school reviews for 2018

iDriveSafely consistently ranks highly in my Florida online traffic school reviews, but they also operate online drivers ed in Florida.

What I like about iDriveSafely is the multiple formats they offer. If you prefer text, they have a cheap text-based online driver’s ed course.

If you want some audio, you can opt-in for the audio read-along feature. If you prefer video, they have that, too.

I really enjoyed the video-based online driver’s ed course they offer because they have a great cast of animated characters that really keep things entertaining.

iDriveSafely has been online for more than 20 years. And even before that, they offered home-based driver’s ed through mail order booklets and VHS tapes (remember that mom and dad?).

iDriveSafely is a great alternative to the free online driver’s ed course in Florida.

My Overall Opinion About Taking Your Florida Online Driver’s Ed Course For Free

Being able to take your Florida online drive’s ed course for free is a unique option that only exists in the state of Florida.

No other state offers a free online driver’s ed course. Not only that, but the free online driver’s ed course in Florida is actually run by a very reputable company that provides paid driver’s ed courses in most other states.

While I wanted to provide you with some alternatives, I see no reason to sign up for one of the paid options I listed above. Just sign up for this free course and get going in minutes!
